A highly respected independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors is looking to recruit either a Graduate Tax Trainee or en experienced Tax Assistant to join its established and growing Tax team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop into a well-rounded tax professional, gaining exposure to both corporate and personal tax from the outset. Unlike many trainee roles that specialise too early, you'll receive broad experience across multiple tax disciplines while working alongside experienced tax specialists and Partners.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside experienced members of the Tax team, you'll:

  • Prepare tax computations, returns and supporting schedules across both Corporate and Personal Tax
  • Assist with a wide range of tax compliance and advisory assignments
  • Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and respond to day-to-day queries
  • Build relationships with HMRC and colleagues across the wider firm
  • Support research projects and technical advisory work
  • Develop your tax knowledge through structured training and practical experience
  • Work closely with Managers, Directors and Partners in a collaborative environment

No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys learning and solving problems.

About you

You'll ideally be either:

  • A recent graduate with a minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent predicted result), or
  • An existing Tax Assistant looking to broaden your experience and continue your professional studies.

You'll also bring:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A naturally curious and analytical mindset
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A genuine interest in tax and a desire to build a long-term career in the profession
  • The confidence to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team

Previous experience in tax isn't essential for graduates, although experience gained within an office, finance or customer-facing environment would be beneficial.
