The Opportunity
Our client is a highly regarded professional services firm with an outstanding reputation for advising high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurial families, landed estates, rural businesses, trustees, and charitable organisations on complex legal and tax matters.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Tax & Succession Lawyer to join a specialist private client team based in Edinburgh. This role offers exposure to high-quality, often complex work involving succession planning, trusts, estate administration, asset protection, and tax planning for affluent individuals and families.
Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will advise clients on a broad range of personal and family wealth matters while liaising with specialists across property, corporate, employment, family law, charities, and dispute resolution to deliver integrated advice.
Key Responsibilities
- Advising individuals and families on estate and succession planning matters.
- Providing guidance on trusts, asset protection structures, and wealth preservation strategies.
- Managing estate administration matters and related legal documentation.
- Building and maintaining strong, trusted client relationships.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across a range of legal and professional disciplines.
- Delivering practical, commercially focused advice with discretion and empathy.
About You
Applications are welcomed from candidates who have:
- A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in private client, tax and succession
- Scottish qualification preferred, although candidates qualified in England & Wales will also be considered.
- Relevant experience within the tax advisory sector may be considered, even where candidates do not hold legal qualifications.
- Strong technical and practical knowledge of tax and succession planning matters for high net-worth clients
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive, diligent, and commercially aware approach.
- The ability to manage a varied caseload with an appropriate level of autonomy and sound judgement.
Professional Development
The successful candidate will ideally be a full STEP member or working towards STEP qualification. Support and funding for relevant professional studies will be provided where appropriate.
