Tax Accountant

Glasgow City Centre | £40,000–£65,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Would you like to take ownership of tax for one of Scotland's most successful and fastest-growing privately owned businesses?

We are recruiting a Tax Accountant to join the Finance team of a substantial Glasgow-headquartered organisation which has grown revenues beyond £300m.

This is a rare opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in UK Corporate Tax compliance to step into a genuinely broad in-house position where you will become the key internal point of contact for tax across the Group.

You might be CA, ACCA, ATT or CTA qualified, currently studying towards one of these qualifications, or have developed your tax expertise through experience. What matters most is that you have spent a minimum of 2–3 years or more working hands-on with UK Corporate Tax compliance and are ready for greater ownership.

The role:

Working within the Finance team and alongside senior finance colleagues, you will have primary responsibility for the Group's tax calculations, reporting and compliance requirements.

You'll work independently but won't be operating in isolation. The business retains external tax advisers who will provide specialist support and finalisation where appropriate.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing corporation tax calculations and provisional figures ahead of finalisation by external tax advisers
  • Calculating deferred tax and preparing FRS 102 tax disclosure notes for the financial statements
  • Calculating quarterly corporation tax payments on account
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns
  • Coordinating capital allowance claims with colleagues, suppliers and external advisers
  • Preparing the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement
  • Managing CIS compliance requirements
  • Filing Option to Tax notifications
  • Maintaining and reviewing the Group's Tax Risk Register
  • Reviewing SDLT calculations and Land Remediation claims
  • Liaising with HMRC and supporting any enquiries
  • Monitoring changes in tax legislation and communicating relevant developments internally
  • Continually improving tax compliance processes and controls
  • Supporting ad hoc tax queries and projects as the business continues to grow

.

About you?

  • Experienced preparing corporation tax computations and understanding the underlying accounting information, with the technical grounding and confidence to take responsibility for deadlines and deliverables.
  • Comfortable analysing large sets of data
  • Experience across areas such as deferred tax, VAT, capital allowances, CIS, SDLT or employment taxes would certainly be useful – but isn't essential as training will be provided
  • Self-motivated with a can-do attitude
  • Strong team player
  • Confident communicator

Package

Salary: £40,000–£65,000 depending on experience + Bonus + Benefits.  Study support available for CA, ACCA, ATT, CTA .
