About the Role

The Group Finance team plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive group financial results, ensuring robust financial governance, and adhering to all relevant financial policies and regulatory requirements. This encompasses the timely preparation of internal and external group financial reports, cash flow forecasting, effective cost control, and sound financial investment governance.

As the Senior Group Financial Reporting Manager, you will lead the financial reporting team in producing accurate and timely financial statements for multiple entities within the group, while also overseeing the associated year-end audit process. Your responsibilities will include managing accounting policies and disclosure requirements, as well as the delivery of cash flow reporting.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review the preparation of Group, UK subsidiaries, and holding company financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant accounting standards.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Lead the external year-end audit process, working collaboratively with auditors and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage and lead the financial reporting team, providing guidance and support to the wider Group Finance team to foster high performance.
  • Develop and implement financial reporting policies and procedures, ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Regularly review risk assessments and the effectiveness of mitigating internal controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within financial reporting processes and systems.
  • Assist the Finance leadership team with ad-hoc special projects as required.
  • Oversee the timely delivery of Group cash flow reporting and forecasts, including scenario impact assessment and the provision of relevant insights.
  • Hold direct line management responsibility for 2 Glasgow-based team members.
  • Provide technical guidance and thought leadership in accounting practices, financial reporting, and process improvements.
  • Allocate work effectively across the wider Group Finance teams.
  • Mentor and develop team members to enhance their skills and support their career progression.
  • Provide on-the-job training to develop team capabilities.

About You

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ICAS, ACCA, ICAEW or equivalent). Extensive knowledge of financial standards – IFRS /UK GAAP and strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Highly numerate with a strong understanding of financial and management information systems.
  • Extensive experience working within an international and multi-currency business, including consolidated Group financial reporting.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in managing a financial reporting team and leading year-end audits.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and deliver results to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
