A leading UK law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Legal Director to join its highly regarded Commercial Real Estate team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded real estate lawyer to work on some of Scotland's most significant investment, development and financing transactions. The successful candidate will advise a diverse client base including institutional investors, private equity houses, developers, lenders, occupiers and international businesses on complex, high-value matters across a range of sectors including retail, offices, leisure, life sciences and higher education. 

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in advising on major Scottish and cross-border transactions, working alongside leading lawyers across real estate, banking, corporate, planning and construction disciplines. The role offers a blend of high-quality transactional work, client relationship management and team leadership.

Key areas of work include:

• Acquisitions and disposals of investment property portfolios.
• Advising on shopping centres, retail parks and prime commercial assets.
• Asset management matters including lettings, lease re-gears and lease variations.
• Real estate aspects of UK and international corporate transactions.
• Acting for lenders and borrowers on high-value real estate finance matters.
• Supporting UK-wide and pan-European property transactions alongside City and international law firms.
• Managing your own transactions and developing direct client relationships. 

Responsibilities

• Deliver commercially focused legal advice on complex real estate transactions.
• Draft and negotiate sale and purchase agreements, leases and ancillary documentation.
• Conduct title investigations and prepare detailed reports.
• Lead and support transactions from inception to completion.
• Collaborate with colleagues across multiple practice areas.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers.
• Contribute to business development activities and client growth initiatives.
• Ensure work is delivered efficiently, accurately and within agreed timescales. 

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• 7+ years' PQE with strong experience in Scottish commercial real estate.
• A solid understanding of Scots property law and market practice.
• Excellent technical, drafting and negotiation skills.
• A pragmatic and commercially focused approach.
• Strong client relationship and communication abilities.
• Experience handling competing priorities and managing matters independently.
• An interest in business development and building long-term client relationships.
• The ability to lead, mentor and support junior team members.
