Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join a well‑established construction business delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across Scotland. The role offers the opportunity to support and manage commercial activity across projects from pre‑construction through to completion, working closely with senior commercial and project teams.
This position provides exposure to one of the largest construction pipelines currently in Scotland, including involvement in the exciting and fast‑growing Data Centre market. It is well suited to a commercially aware professional looking to develop their experience on high‑value, technically challenging projects within a supportive and progressive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Financial Management
- Assisting with the commercial management of construction projects
- Supporting preparation and tracking of project budgets and cost forecasts
- Assisting with CVRs, financial reporting, and cash flow forecasting
- Monitoring costs, risks, and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
- Supporting value engineering and cost improvement initiatives
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Assisting with procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
- Preparing tender enquiries, analysing returns, and supporting subcontract awards
- Ongoing commercial administration of subcontract packages
- Assisting with negotiation and agreement of subcontract variations and final accounts
Contract Administration
- Supporting administration of construction contracts (e.g. JCT or similar)
- Preparing and assessing interim valuations and payment applications
- Recording and assisting assessment of variations and change control
- Supporting preparation and agreement of final accounts
Stakeholder & Team Support
- Working collaboratively with project teams, consultants, and supply chain partners
- Supporting Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers across key project activities
- Developing strong professional relationships both internally and externally
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role within a construction environment
- Understanding of construction commercial processes and cost control
- Familiarity with standard forms of construction contract
- Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities
- Proactive and willing to learn
Desirable
- Experience on commercial, residential, or technically complex projects
- Exposure to large‑scale or high‑value developments
- Working towards a professional qualification (MRICS, MCIOB, or equivalent)
