Professional Support Lawyer & Knowledge Manager - Edinburgh
An exciting opportunity has arisen with a highly regarded UK law firm for an experienced Scottish Real Estate lawyer to move into a Professional Support Lawyer (PSL) and Knowledge Manager position within its established Property & Infrastructure team. This is a rare opportunity to step away from a traditional fee-earning role while remaining closely involved in high-quality real estate work and playing a key strategic role in the development of knowledge, training and best practice across the business.
The Opportunity
Working alongside a respected Scottish Real Estate team, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing knowledge resources, supporting learning and training initiatives, and ensuring the team remains at the forefront of legal and market developments. The role also includes a firm-wide Knowledge Management remit, dedicating part of the working week to supporting the firm's broader knowledge strategy and systems development.
This position would suit an experienced Real Estate Solicitor looking to utilise their technical expertise in a non-fee-earning capacity, whilst continuing to influence the delivery of exceptional client service and legal excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and developing knowledge resources and online materials for the Scottish Real Estate team.
- Capturing and sharing valuable know-how from fee earners to enhance team expertise and efficiency.
- Drafting, reviewing and updating precedents, templates, guidance notes and practice manuals.
- Supporting the preparation and delivery of training programmes, inductions and development initiatives for lawyers, trainees and paralegals.
- Working closely with business development and marketing teams on legal updates and thought leadership content.
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing enhancement of the firm's knowledge management systems, including user experience and information accessibility.
- Collaborating with knowledge champions and stakeholders across the business to drive knowledge-sharing initiatives and best practice.
- Contributing to strategic knowledge management projects, learning programmes and evolving AI and innovation initiatives.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Scottish Solicitor with a strong background in Real Estate or Commercial Property.
- Excellent technical legal knowledge and drafting skills.
- A keen interest in knowledge management, legal technology, training and innovation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Previous PSL or knowledge management experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
