Private Client Tax Senior Manager

An exceptional opportunity to join the rapidly expanding Scottish Private Client Tax practice of our national CA firm client as Senior Manager. Tax advisory is recognised as a key growth area for the firm and this role provides ample opportunity to be an important part of that growth journey with scope for career progression.

Working closely with the Private Client Advisory Partner, you will deliver diverse and complex

Private Client tax advice to a broad client base, including business owners, with a focus on farmers, landowners and high net worth individuals. There will also be involvement with non-resident and non-domiciled individuals and their structures.

This role is all about…

  • Supporting the tax partners with tax technical work which will include technical research through to preparing tax planning reports and other ad hoc advisory work. The technical work is broad and applicants should be comfortable with all direct taxes business and succession structures, to include trusts.
  • Client facing role attending meetings and operating as a key contact for clients.
  • Working across the Scottish and UK wide offices to tap into technical specialists to deliver projects and advice. This will involve delegating preparation work to the wider tax team.
  • Ongoing involvement in the development of the private client advisory business.
  • Acting as a mentor and coach for less experienced tax specialists.
  • Providing internal training for both the tax and accounts and business advisory service
  • teams.
  • Working with the accounts and business advisory service team to identify tax planning opportunities from within the existing client portfolios.
  • This is not a compliance role but the successful applicants will be able to assist the Scottish tax teams with particularly complex tax returns and potentially review returns for complex new clients before the work is transferred into the compliance teams.

About you…

  • Ideally ATT and CTA qualified, or ACA/CA and qualified by significant advisory experience gained in an accounting, law or tax boutique firm. STEP desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in managing client relationships and dealing with complex client queries.
  • A keen interest in developing and growing a high performing and driven team which can be supported by experience.
