Private Client Tax Advisory Manager – Glasgow
A highly respected, independent Accountancy and Business Advisory firm with a strong footprint across the North of England and Scotland is expanding its national Tax Consultancy team and is now seeking a Private Client Tax Manager to join their growing Glasgow office.
This is an ideal move for someone who is little or no advisory experience, but who is looking to develop their technical experience to become a true tax planning advisor. You work work under the guidance and mentorship of a Tax Director in Glasgow as well as receiving support, structured training, and hands-on exposure to interesting client projects.

The Opportunity
This is a career-defining role for a motivated tax professional who wants to broaden their technical expertise and move into a more client-facing advisory role.
Working as part of the firm’s national Tax Consultancy team, you’ll be supporting Partners and Senior Managers on varied private client projects involving high-net-worth individuals, trusts, succession planning, and family-owned businesses. You’ll also be encouraged to take ownership of your own client relationships as your confidence and technical advisory skills develop.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising with Armstrong Watson clients and the wider team to deliver Private Client Tax Advisory Services
- Undertaking new client meetings in relation to Tax Advisory opportunities
- Delivering proactive Tax planning advice for clients
- Managing various service line projects, including reviewing the work of other team members
- Monitoring work in progress, recoveries and billing
- Having formal line management responsibility of Tax Managers, Tax Seniors and Trainees
- Delivering Tax Technical Training & Development sessions to the team and other service lines
- Dealing with ad hoc queries from the wider firm when required
About You
- CTA qualified and have a minimum of 5 years experience in a Private Client based role
- Experience as Manager or Senior Manager
- Experience of leading advisory projects
- Knowledgeable and able to provide advice surrounding Agricultural Tax and Trust matters (Desirable)
- A Full UK Driving Licence (Essential)
- Experience of dealing directly with clients and ensuring they receive an outstanding level of service
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) when dealing with clients and colleagues across the firm
- Great teamwork skills to be able to communicate with your own team as well as the other Armstrong Watson teams across all offices
