Role Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a growing team in Glasgow. You’ll lead mechanical engineering design across a range of building sectors, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver solutions that are innovative, robust, and aligned with client aspirations.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and deliver mechanical design across medium and large-scale projects.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project partners.
- Take ownership of project briefs, resource planning, quality control, and commercial performance.
- Guide and mentor engineers within the team, supporting their technical and professional development.
- Coordinate with internal specialists to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
- Represent the team in meetings, workshops, and client presentations.
- Support bids, proposals, and business development activities.
Requirements
- Strong experience as a Mechanical Engineer within building services.
- A proven track record of delivering high‑quality mechanical design on complex, multidisciplinary projects.
- Solid knowledge of HVAC systems, low‑carbon technologies, and industry best practice.
- Competence with industry-standard software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Hevacomp, IESVE, etc.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders.
- Understanding of relevant British Standards and building regulations.
- Previous experience within consultancy, with an appreciation of complementary specialisms (e.g., acoustics, fire, digital modelling).
- A proactive mindset, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to delivering great engineering.
