Accounts Assistant

£30,000 - £32,000 | hybrid working model 2 days in office |

Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant looking to take the next step in your finance career? Our client is an established business with a focus on sustainable infrastructure, which has served them for over 30 years globally. a market‑leading organisation specialising in Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects, is seeking a proactive and detail‑driven finance professional to join their UK & Ireland team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop broad accounting experience while working closely with Management Accountants across a diverse portfolio of projects.


The Role

In this fast‑paced and varied position, you will play a key part in the day‑to‑day financial management of multiple PPP projects. Working with both UK and Irish entities, you will support accurate financial processing, reporting, and stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare and raise all sales invoices, ensuring accurate posting to SAP.

Accounts Payable

  • Process purchase invoices and maintain accurate financial records in SAP.

Monthly Payments

  • Manage monthly payment runs across various online banking platforms.

Tax Reporting

  • Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly VAT returns and CIS/RCT returns to Revenue.

Bank Reconciliations

  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations for all project bank accounts.

Credit Control

  • Monitor debtor balances, resolve payment issues, and support ongoing credit control activity.

Project Calculations

  • Calculate loan interest, agency fees, and commitment fees payable to funders.

Stakeholder Interaction

  • Maintain regular communication with Management Accountants and Operations Managers.
  • Support external auditors during year‑end by providing required documentation.

About You

Education & Training

  • AAT qualified or actively studying toward AAT (preferred).

Experience

  • Previous accounts experience is essential.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong Excel capability (essential).
  • SAP experience is beneficial but not essential.
  • Working knowledge of UK & Irish VAT/tax.
  • Excellent organisation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable managing deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
