Assistant Manager – Indirect Tax
An excellent in-house career opportunity to join our global services client as Indirect Tax Assistant Manager. As part of a team of five based in Glasgow, you will play an integral role in providing indirect tax advisory and compliance services to the business and affiliated companies across the EMEA and wider region. The role is orientated towards the continual day-to-day provision of technical indirect tax guidance and advice as well as supporting planning and in-depth project involvement. You will also support the end-to-end tax compliance obligations around Value Added Tax (VAT), parafiscal taxes, indirect tax accounting and associated e-filing where required is anticipated.
This role is all about….
- Responding to indirect tax queries as and when they arise – both from the business and from the Finance Team.
- Assisting senior tax team members with the provision of ad hoc planning and projects and indirect tax advice as necessary.
- Indirect tax returns and reviews.
- Regular liaison with business lines/ conduct and legal teams as well as external bodies to ensure current knowledge is maintained and implemented.
- Supporting with the preparation of indirect tax audits.
- Assisting with the management of the day-to-day VAT compliance processes
About you….
Coming from a background in industry, services or professional practice you demonstrate a strong technical background working in VAT with good grasp of VAT law as well as formal VAT guidance. A professional tax or accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, ICAS and/ or CTA) is advantageous but not essential. Strong Excel skills are imperative, as an interest in the structure and functioning of systems/automation in data management. You will be a confident communicator with a ‘can do’ attitude with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
