An established, family‑owned construction business based in Glasgow is seeking an experienced HR Advisor to join its close‑knit HR team. This is a broad generalist role offering the opportunity to work closely with the HR Director and develop into a strong number two within the function.

This role will suit a capable and proactive HR professional who enjoys working at pace, partnering closely with stakeholders, and taking ownership of projects that add real value to the business.

The Role

Reporting directly to the HR Director, you will provide end‑to‑end HR support across the business, with a particular focus on training, development, and project work. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting and delivering a range of HR projects across the business
  • Establishing, maintaining and developing a comprehensive training matrix across operational and site‑based roles
  • Liaising with external bodies, including CITB, to ensure compliance and maximise funding and training opportunities
  • Coordinating and delivering internal training where appropriate
  • Assisting with payroll‑related activities, ensuring accuracy and effective liaison with finance and external providers
  • Managing HR administration processes across the employee lifecycle
  • Providing day‑to‑day support on employee relations matters, including absence, disciplinary and grievance issues
  • Supporting the HR Director with policy development and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

You will be an experienced HR Advisor or Senior HR Administrator ready to take the next step in your career. You will bring:

  • Previous generalist HR experience, ideally within construction, engineering or a similar environment
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Experience coordinating training, learning & development, or working with external training bodies (CITB experience highly desirable)
  • A hands‑on, pragmatic approach with the confidence to work closely with managers and site teams
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly around HR admin and payroll support
  • A genuine desire to develop your career and act as a trusted deputy to the HR Director

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, values‑led organisation where HR is seen as a key partner to the business. You will gain exposure to strategic HR activity while remaining hands‑on, and will be supported to grow into a pivotal role within the department.
