Lead the tax reporting function of one of the UK's largest financial services groups.

A rare opportunity has arisen for an accomplished tax reporting leader to step into a pivotal leadership position within the Group Tax function of a major UK financial services organisation.

Our client is seeking an experienced Head of Tax Reporting to provide leadership during an important period of transition. Initially offered as a six-month contract, there is genuine potential for the successful individual to become the long-term permanent appointment.

Reporting directly to the Group Tax Director, you will lead a small team responsible for the group's tax reporting, governance and forecasting activities, while partnering with senior stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.

This is a highly visible role offering significant influence across one of the UK's most respected financial services organisations.

The Role

Your primary focus will be leading all aspects of corporate tax reporting, tax accounting and governance across a complex international group.

Working closely with Finance leadership, external advisers and senior tax colleagues, you'll ensure robust reporting processes, oversee key global tax reporting obligations and continue developing the group's tax governance framework.

Whilst certain corporate tax compliance activities are supported by external advisers, you'll retain oversight of key deliverables and ensure the highest standards of quality, governance and risk management.

You'll also lead and develop a team of two experienced tax professionals while helping shape the future direction of the wider tax function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all group tax reporting and forecasting activities
  • Oversee quarterly and annual tax accounting under IFRS
  • Maintain and develop the group's tax governance and controls framework
  • Oversee key global reporting obligations including Pillar Two, Country-by-Country Reporting and Corporate Interest Restriction
  • Review work delivered by external advisers, ensuring quality and timely delivery
  • Partner closely with Finance leadership and senior stakeholders across the business
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of two tax professionals
  • Drive continuous improvement across reporting processes, systems and controls
  • Support wider finance transformation and process improvement initiatives

About You

We're interested in speaking with experienced Tax Reporting leaders who can demonstrate:

  • ACA/CA/ACCA and/or CTA qualification
  • Significant experience leading UK corporate tax reporting within a large corporate, financial services environment or practice
  • Strong tax accounting expertise under IFRS
  • Experience managing tax governance, reporting and risk frameworks
  • Previous leadership experience, including developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence senior executives
  • Exposure to Pillar Two and international tax reporting requirements would be advantageous
