Group Development Accountant

Are you a qualified accountant who thrives on partnering with operational teams, influencing decision-making and delivering commercial insight on major projects?

We are seeking an ambitious Group Development Accountant to play a key role in the financial appraisal, monitoring and reporting of a significant development and capital investment programme.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working closely with non-finance stakeholders, providing robust financial analysis and helping shape strategic investment decisions.

The Role

Working as part of a high-performing finance team, you will:

  • Provide finance business partnering support to development, operational and senior leadership teams.
  • Lead financial appraisal and modelling for new projects, investments and business opportunities.
  • Produce insightful management reporting, forecasts and budgets, highlighting key risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor capital projects and development spend against agreed plans and budgets.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior executives and board-level stakeholders.
  • Support long-term business planning and financial forecasting activities.
  • Prepare statutory accounts and work closely with external auditors and advisors.
  • Review VAT submissions and support wider tax and compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement across reporting, controls and financial processes.

About You

We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Strong finance business partnering experience with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders.
  • Experience working within construction, property development, infrastructure or capital project environments.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).
  • Strong financial modelling, project appraisal and analytical skills.
  • Experience producing management and statutory accounts.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance audiences.
  • Advanced Excel skills and a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against challenging deadlines.

Why Apply?

This role offers the chance to work at the heart of a complex organisation, partnering with senior stakeholders and contributing to major investment and development projects. You'll have genuine visibility across the business and the opportunity to influence strategic decisions through high-quality financial insight.

If you're a commercially focused accountant with strong finance business partnering skills and CIS experience, we'd love to hear from you.
