Job title: Estimator – Steel Fabrication

An established and respected specialist within the steel fabrication sector is seeking an Estimator to join their expanding team. Operating for several decades, the company delivers high‑quality structural steelwork and metalwork to clients across construction, infrastructure, telecommunications, renewables, and mechanical engineering.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator looking to take the next step in their career. The role may also suit individuals from a fabrication or site background who are seeking a career change, as full training can be provided.

Your New Role

As Estimator, you will play a key role in the tendering process and contribute to the continued growth of the business. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing tender and quotation submissions
  • Sourcing and reviewing pre‑project information, drawings, specifications, and plans
  • Performing quantity take‑offs from drawings
  • Producing Bills of Quantities
  • Building up tender prices based on scope, documentation, and programme
  • Gathering and distributing feedback as required
  • Ensuring compliance with company processes and procedures
  • Supporting additional duties as required

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you should demonstrate:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers
  • Excellent organisation and time‑management skills, able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Good numeracy and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Estimating experience is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided
  • A background in fabrication or on‑site work is highly advantageous for those looking to transition into estimating
  • A full driving licence is beneficial
