Contentious Construction Solicitor or Associate

Join a Leading Scottish Law Firm as a Solicitor or Associate within the Contentious Construction Team

We are currently seeking a Solicitor to join a dynamic Contentious Construction team within the Property & Infrastructure Disputes Group at a leading independent law firm in Scotland.

The team operates in a fast-paced and diverse environment, with a specific focus on the energy sector. They offer comprehensive legal advice in various areas including infrastructure, civil engineering, utilities, waste-water, transport, oil and gas, renewables (hydro schemes, tidal, onshore and offshore wind), flood prevention schemes, commercial developments, domestic projects, PFI/PPP, and professional negligence.

As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Advise clients on contractual provisions and obligations, resolving issues and disputes effectively.
  • Provide strategic pre-dispute advice to large commercial clients, evaluating their position, exploring alternative dispute resolution options, and preparing for formal processes if necessary.
  • Play an active role in large-scale Scottish and English court actions in the TCC, Court of Session, and Sheriff Courts. You will also gain experience in alternative dispute resolution methods such as arbitration, adjudication, and mediation.
  • Document settlements and agreements, and guide clients on the way forward for their projects and commercial relationships.

To be successful in this role, you should ideally have 3-6 years of relevant PQE. While construction litigation experience is desirable, the team also welcomes candidates with expertise in other areas of litigation such as property, commercial, or professional negligence. Strong analytical and drafting skills are essential, along with the ability to provide practical and commercial advice. Excellent interpersonal and consultancy skills will be highly valued.

On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with your experience and skills.
