Lusona is supporting our client who delivers large‑scale managed IT services to source suitable applicants for this new role. The client has recently secured a significant long‑term contract, and the successful applicant will take full end‑to‑end commercial ownership of this strategically important engagement.

This role combines commercial leadership, procurement, supplier negotiation and contract governance, with clear accountability for financial performance, risk management and delivery profitability.

Role Purpose

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for the commercial management of a major managed IT services contract hosted within a data centre infrastructure. The role has a strong focus on hardware procurement, software licensing and managed services, ensuring the contract is delivered efficiently, profitably and in line with agreed service expectations over its full lifecycle.

You will work closely with delivery, finance, legal and operational teams, acting as the commercial authority for the contract while balancing cost, risk and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Hold full commercial accountability for the contract, including margin protection, cost control and forecasting
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, cost reports and commercial performance metrics
  • Monitor actual performance against forecasts and drive corrective actions

Procurement & Supplier Management

  • Lead procurement of hardware and software required to deliver managed IT services, including:
    • Data centre infrastructure
    • Server and networking hardware
    • Software licensing and managed service packages
  • Develop procurement strategies that maximise value and minimise total cost of ownership
  • Negotiate with OEMs, vendors and service providers to secure commercially advantageous terms
  • Manage supplier performance, commercial risk and continuity of delivery

Contractual & Commercial Governance

  • Manage contractual obligations, commercial risk and compliance with governance frameworks
  • Lead commercial change control, contract variations and pricing impacts
  • Work closely with the Legal team to support sound commercial decision‑making

Post‑Contract & Service Delivery Support

  • Provide robust post‑contract commercial management, including assessment and negotiation of variations, supplier claims and service changes
  • Support delivery teams with commercial insight to balance service performance against cost and contract risk
  • Act as a key commercial interface for internal stakeholders and external partners

Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Produce clear commercial reports and dashboards for senior leadership (Managing Director / Chief Financial Officer)
  • Support executive decision‑making through commercial insight, scenario planning and risk analysis

About You

We are looking for a commercially astute professional with strong experience managing complex service contracts, ideally in the technology sector.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in commercial management of managed services or technology contracts
  • Strong knowledge of hardware and software procurement within IT environments
  • Excellent supplier negotiation and contract management skills
  • Strong financial literacy with the ability to manage budgets, forecasts and margin performance
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to challenge constructively
