Our client is a leading global engineered product manufacturer, who after a sustained period of growth need to appoint an experienced and ambitious procurement professional.
The Lead Buyer will work closely with the Project Manager and the Production Planner and will be responsible for purchasing all materials required for each bespoke manufacturing project. They will ensure that materials are delivered on time to meet the production schedule and work closely with suppliers based in the UK, Europe and China for regular updates.
The Lead Buyer will be responsible for controlling costs of all materials and work closely with Suppliers to ensure the are providing value for money. They will source new suppliers and vet them for quality and supply.
The Lead Buyer will create and develop processes to improve the efficiency of the department and have a passion for continuous improvement. They will ensure that SAP is used to process requisitions, orders and receipting of goods and that is utilised to streamline the purchasing process.
Knowledge and experience
- You will be an experienced Senior/Lead Buyer who has worked within aengineering manufacturing company
- You will have previously purchased items such as fabricated parts, gearboxes, bearings, plating from both UK and Overseas suppliers
- Experience of working with SAP is highly advantageous
- Must be able and comfortable to work on own initiative and prioritise own workload - without guidance
- Must be able to juggle changing priorities and react quickly with solutions
- Enthusiastic with a positive attitude for continuous process improvement and enjoys challenging the norm
- Excellent communication skills and can build relationships with on-site colleagues, global colleagues and suppliers
