Our client, a respected independent mid-tier firm of accountants and business advisors with offices across Edinburgh and Fife, is seeking an Audit Partner Designate to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Director ready to transition into a Partner role within a supportive, growing firm.

The Role:

As Audit Partner Designate, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the firm’s audit practice. Working closely with the existing Partners, you will lead a team providing high-quality audit services, including:

  • External Audits: Managing audits for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring regulatory compliance and high standards of service.
  • Statutory Accounts Preparation: Overseeing the preparation of statutory accounts, maintaining strong client relationships and providing technical expertise.
  • Management Accounts: Offering strategic insights through the production of management accounts, working with clients to improve business performance.
  • Advisory Projects: Leading on ad hoc advisory work, supporting clients with complex accounting, business, and financial challenges.

This role offers a clear path to partnership and the chance to influence both the strategic direction of the firm and its growing audit function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a varied portfolio of audit clients, providing leadership and technical guidance.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor a dedicated team of audit professionals, supporting their professional development.
  • Drive business growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, and contributing to the firm’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant auditing and accounting standards and keep abreast of regulatory changes.
  • Provide strategic input into the development of the firm’s audit services, working closely with the leadership team to shape its future direction.

About You:

  • CA/ACCA/ACA qualified, with significant post-qualification experience in audit, preferably within a mid-tier or independent firm.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and inspire a team.
  • Strong technical expertise in external audits, statutory accounts, and management accounts.
  • A commercial mindset, with experience in developing client relationships and growing revenue streams.
  • Ambitious and entrepreneurial, with the desire to progress to Partner level within the near future.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage clients and colleagues alike.
